Answering Your Questions
I’ve also gotten a few recurring questions:
What motivates you to share so much when others charge for far less?
What do you look for in a company before deciding to start a deep dive?
What motivates you to share so much when others charge for far less?
Great question—and one I hear often.
When I started investing, I struggled to find in-depth, reliable resources. Paid subscriptions often lacked transparency, and free content rarely went beyond surface-level commentary. That’s why I created this Substack: to provide transparent, actionable insights that combine financials and the story—accessible to everyone.
✅ Comprehensive research that digs into the numbers and the narrative.
✅ Transparent insights—I invest in the companies I write about.
✅ Actionable ideas, accessible to all.
For me, this Substack is more than just a platform—it’s my investing journal, where I hold myself accountable to do the deep dives I believe every investor should. Sharing these insights has not only pushed me to grow as an investor but has also allowed me to connect with others who value thoughtful, well-researched ideas.
This Substack is the resource I wish I’d had when I started, and I hope it provides the clarity, depth, and inspiration you need to navigate your own investing journey.
What do you look for in a company before deciding to start a deep dive?
I look for companies with a compelling story, strong management, tangible growth catalysts, and defensible market positions—qualities that make them worth exploring.
Let me show you how this applies to the companies I’ve written about:
Compelling Stories, Strong Leaders
Tornado Global Hydrovacs: A hydrovac industry innovator addressing North America’s infrastructure demands, led by CEO Brett Newton, who brings over 25 years of industry expertise.
Evome Medical Technologies: A turnaround story under CEO Mike Seckler, renowned for transforming struggling divisions into successful ventures, with a focus on recovery science.
Bird Construction: A construction powerhouse capitalizing on Canada’s infrastructure boom, driven by management’s exceptional ability to integrate businesses, prioritize operational excellence, and leverage self-perform capabilities.
Catalysts for Growth
Tornado Global Hydrovacs: Increasing adoption of hydrovacs for safer excavation, facility expansion, and new product introductions.
Evome Medical Technologies: The sale of DaMar Plastics, eliminating most debt and freeing up cash to expand Biodex operations.
Bird Construction: A strong project backlog aligned with Canada’s infrastructure growth.
Defensible Market Positions
Tornado Global Hydrovacs: Dominance in hydrovacs with specialized expertise.
Evome Medical Technologies: Biodex’s strong brand in recovery science.
Bird Construction: Decades of expertise and trusted client relationships.
Great businesses don’t just happen—they’re built by great teams with a vision and the ability to deliver. That’s the common thread across Tornado, Evome, and Bird, and it’s what I’ll continue seeking in every company I write about.
Not every company will see immediate share price appreciation, but I believe stock prices ultimately follow the strength of the underlying business—not hype. Many multi-baggers share these traits, and I aim to uncover more companies with this kind of potential. Along the way, I’ll also learn from my mistakes, refining my approach and becoming a better investor.
